Caribbean-Canadian filmmaker, Sharon Lewis, has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for her latest project, Brown Girl in the Ring – the Prequel – a Canadian-Caribbean Sci Fi film.  Through the campaign, Sharon and her production team hope to raise $30,000 Canadian ($25,000 US).  The money raised will be used to fund the entire production:  production costs, cast and crew, equipment, insurance, etc.  This project was selected by the Canadian Film Centre through its partnership with IndieGoGo and the film will be receiving some funding.

The Film:
In an abandoned futuristic ghetto haunted by caribbean spirits and the posse, Young Ti-Jeanne’s spirit demands she obey or someone will die.

It is an adaptation of the novel, Brown Girl in the Ring, by Jamaican sci-fi writer, Nalo Hopkinson.
